Did You Know?

John Scalzi put this pic up on his blog Whatever and I just had to copy him (sorry John, not like you’ll ever read this).   I love this pic.  I think I’ll even make it the background for my desktop.  You can get a larger sizes of it here.

Did you know that after shuttle Endeavour lands next week, there are only 4 more shuttle missions left.  That’s it.  No more.  It’s the end of an era.  I grew up watching the shuttle’s launch in school.  Having been way to young to follow any of the Mercury, Apollo, and Gemini.  Heck, I wasn’t even born when Skylab came down and that was even more recent.  Of course I watched the movies, and documentaries on them, but it wasn’t the same.  You can only watch “the Right Stuff” so many times.  They are no longer expanding our knowledge of the solar-system or the universe.  The Shuttle program was that for me.  I still try and keep up with the missions if I can.  Now that they are retiring the shuttle progam, it kind of makes me sad.
